Hi,

Those last days some spammers sent some emails to some GiG members.

If you receive such emails do not hesitate to report them in this thread or just send me a PM.

I have already a huge list of banned emails extension and it is growing.

Let’s try to keep the forum clean

This remembered me of the forum I helped running during and after the start of MineCraft . I distinctively remember the spam issue we had shortly.

Perhaps if you're not already doing so, IP banning will help. I remember this being the solution to a lot of spam...
preventing links for new members can also save you a lot of ****
As I recall we also had an addon that prevented "spammers" from repeating sentences and words to others. E.g. Sending the same message to multiple members via private message or on your blog.

Of course as I'm sure you're aware of, there's loads of plugins or addons to help prevent all sorts of spam and other annoying behavior you will encounter when trying to manage a forum/website/blog.
I used the "report private message" to report the spam that led me here, I received one in what I believed to be Russian earlier this week but had already removed it due to the 1 message limit that has been set on private messages.

Many thanks for the report tool you've created, I use it a lot and it's by far the best that I've come across.

Many thanks for your kind words and for your reminder.

So far, I was mostly banning emails extension (fake email providers) but you are right, I am going to start banning IP also

I have also removed the authorisation for Newly registered users to send PM. Now they need to post in the forum to have 2 posts approved, then they are moved into the Traders Group and they have access to PM. I have to double check that it is working as intended. I am going to perform the test later today to be sure it is working fine.

I have just launched a batch with a huge list of IP Addresses to ban.
